Let's see how I can de-boggle myself today...
Have you ever noticed that just babbling on about something either makes it go away, seem simpler, or just get better? That's what I'm going to do right now!!!
Here's the thing, I started a new job 6 months ago. A great job...fun, exciting, good pay for this area, and great benefits!!! But it seems that this job has one little drawback (as such jobs often do) in that I am required to take 60 hours of classes a year to make rank and/or get bonuses. Sounds easy enough, right? WRONG!!!!
Supposedly 20 hours will be covered by "mandatory classes," (Mandatory my Ass!!!) that everyone will have to take. Except for the fact that my position (Out of sight, out of mind) doesn't require some of those classes. So here I am, 6 months in and only 7 hours of mandatory classes. Now onto the classes that have to be applied for...
I have to make up the rest of the 60 hours by applying for, getting approved for, being accepted into, and attending classes on my off days. Once again, a relatively simple process in theory. If so, then how come I've only been accepted into 2 classes (a total of 12 hours)??? This gives me a whopping 19 hours!!!!!!!
So I have until the end of January to get 41 hours. But since all my classes for August were denied I have 5 months to get all of that in.
Here's where my problem lies, I spent 6 years in the National Guard...4 1/2 of those years were as a Private First Class!!!! It's one thing to not make rank because you are a screw-up, but for me it was just because they kept dicking me around on my paperwork. And after that, I decided that I'm not going to put up with it again. So although I haven't told the bosses, if I don't get my promotion in February because of a lack of classes my feet are hitting the street. I just wish that I didn't like this job so much, then it wouldn't be so bad.
Fortunately, I'm working on a back-up plan. One that will allow me the freedom to work anywhere (especially where my favorite person in the world lives). The only thing about that is my "back-up training" will still be going on until next summer, meaning that I'll be spending several extra months working without a promotion. *pout*
And no, it's not possible to get a promotion any time other than your anniversary date. Which means I'd still be on the first floor of the multi-level outhouse until NEXT February. Grrrrrrrrrr...
Well, I guess we shall see what lies in store. I have applied for my September classes, let's see if I get accepted into any of them...
Until next time, Don't squeeze the charmin or it will squeeze your wallet...
