I should probably start out by telling you that this will probably be my last post under this blog. That's right, good ol' Reckless Rick is packing it in. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not leaving the blog world...just changing to a new format elsewhere.

This may seem a bit sudden or unusual to some of you, but I'm sure that once I explain everything you will see why I can't stay. And because I want my farewell speech to be reader-friendly I will explain in great detail.

Let's start with the reason I started this blog in the first place...Limerance. For those of you who don't know, Limerance is a form of involuntary love that is dependant on either having those feelings returned or at least the possibility of having them returned. Yes, I started this blog for a woman...plain and simple. Looking back, maybe it was just plain and simply stupid. Oh well...

Let's take a look back on this solemn night. I met this person several years ago, although back then we only had a few passing conversations. It wasn't until a few months before I started this blog that I began to have feelings for her. I wanted so many times to tell her that these emotions were building up, but unfortunately something always prevented it. At first it was a simple matter of her policy of not becoming romantically involved with someone she's never met. Whether she was going on a first date, looking for a new date, having issues in her life, or just preparing for something...it never seemed to be the time. Then one day I took a chance and went to meet her in person, andit was one of the greatest weeks of my life. But apparently not all was bright and shiney...between timing and other factors, she seemed slightly afraid of me the whole time.

So I returned home secure in the knowledge that she regarded me as one of those 80's high school movie friends. Although I could plainly see that there would be no last minute epiphany of love. Then for work I went away for a long period of time and when I returned she seemed so much more distant. Now she doesn't even respond to my IM's even when I know she's been online. You may be asking why I didn't email or call or send snail mail...it's simple I want her to be happy even if I'm not involved. So now I fade quietly out of her life, and she doesn't even notice.

You may be wondering how my job and house relate to this blog and my sad attempt at romance. Simple, There are things about both that bring to mind how ridiculous I've been acting when it comes to certain things. Also, I'm hoping that taking this offer will allow me to see the world in a new light. My new blog will catalog my transition and anything else along the way. There's a link to it on my profile page for anyone who cares.

And so today marks the death of Reckless Rick and his trusty sidekick Translucence...May anyone who remains behind have a wonderful life.

*Bows as curtain closes*

~ FIN ~

On A Side Note: This Blog Will Be Deleted on September 22, 2008 to Mark My 30th Birthday and the End of Reckless Rick.

Grasshoppers: Worse Than Cats

OK, if you don't like bugs or they make you squirm, stop reading now.

At work, I've been working outside alot lately (in a truck, not just stuck outside), and there are thousands and thousands of bugs swarming around the big lights out there. That's what I'm going to do right now!!!

Here's the thing, I started a new job 6 months ago. A great job...fun, exciting, good pay for this area, and great benefits!!! But it seems that this job has one little drawback (as such jobs often do) in that I am required to take 60 hours of classes a year to make rank and/or get bonuses. Sounds easy enough, right? WRONG!!!!

Supposedly 20 hours will be covered by "mandatory classes," (Mandatory my Ass!!!) that everyone will have to take. Except for the fact that my position (Out of sight, out of mind) doesn't require some of those classes. So here I am, 6 months in and only 7 hours of mandatory classes. Now onto the classes that have to be applied for...

I have to make up the rest of the 60 hours by applying for, getting approved for, being accepted into, and attending classes on my off days. Once again, a relatively simple process in theory. If so, then how come I've only been accepted into 2 classes (a total of 12 hours)??? This gives me a whopping 19 hours!!!!!!!

So I have until the end of January to get 41 hours. But since all my classes for August were denied I have 5 months to get all of that in.

Here's where my problem lies, I spent 6 years in the National Guard...4 1/2 of those years were as a Private First Class!!!! It's one thing to not make rank because you are a screw-up, but for me it was just because they kept dicking me around on my paperwork. And after that, I decided that I'm not going to put up with it again. So although I haven't told the bosses, if I don't get my promotion in February because of a lack of classes my feet are hitting the street. I just wish that I didn't like this job so much, then it wouldn't be so bad.

Fortunately, I'm working on a back-up plan. One that will allow me the freedom to work anywhere (especially where my favorite person in the world lives). The only thing about that is my "back-up training" will still be going on until next summer, meaning that I'll be spending several extra months working without a promotion. *pout*

And no, it's not possible to get a promotion any time other than your anniversary date. Which means I'd still be on the first floor of the multi-level outhouse until NEXT February. Grrrrrrrrrr...

Well, I guess we shall see what lies in store. I have applied for my September classes, let's see if I get accepted into any of them...

Until next time, Don't squeeze the charmin or it will squeeze your wallet...

A Cool Quiz

So Pandora posted the reults of a quiz that sounded like fun...Here are my results of the same quiz. Well I'm definately not an expert on absence...at least not when it's complex, as some types so often are.

Don't get me wrong, I've missed people...family on trips, friends who've moved away, friends I've left behind, even a couple girlfriends that were away for one reason or another. But no absence compares to the one that I've come to know lately.

You see, there's someone in my life...yes it's a woman. And yes, every communication with her has been over the net. I know, I know, "Rick the internet isn't real, go out and meet people." "Rick, get a life!" "Rick, you have got serious issues." The thing is, I don't really spend much time on here. I never really did except for when I was talking to my friends.

So how can I miss someone whom I've never even spoken to? Honestly, I'm not sure. I guess it's sort of like an opiate...when you have it you feel great and haven't a care in the world, but when you run out it's all you can think about. Well my pixel devouring friends, it would seem that you've helped me work out my confusion again...Very simple isn't it?

I'm addicted to talking to this person.

Of course, knowing this raises more questions...but that's a completely different shrink session...

Hasta folks!!!!!! And remember, if what's on your shoe looks like poop and smells like poop, you probably went too far off the beaten path...

Labies And Gempelfunks

That's right, I said it!!!! Then I will follow up in the next few entries.

Here we go, The quick and dirty list of recent achievments.

1. Spent 3 weeks doing Taxes.

2. Began a new and exciting career...full of power and all the schadenfreude I can handle.

3. Quit a local government comittee.

4. Found out that I enjoy a few things that had previously repelled me.

5. Learned more about myself and my potential life path.

6. Found out that when you miss talking to someone for a day, a week feels like being trapped in a cave of emptiness forever.

Oh well...such is the way of carving a new route through life...

Words, Not Just For Eating...

Have you ever stopped to wonder where words get their power? I mean, what a person says can have a huge impact on the world and people around them...So where does this universe-altering energy come from?

Does it come from the letters? How can it? When letters don't even have a common structure throughout this single world, it's hard to believe that some scribbles can do anything to anyone.

Maybe it comes from the words themselves...nah, if that were the case then it would be impossible for people to use derogatory words in a positive way.

Perhaps meaning is the culprit! Who am I kidding? Words can have multiple meanings, I mean just look at the word "screw" You can screw in a lightbulb, screw your mate, you can even screw over a whole country. Nope, meaning is meaningless...

It would appear that intent is our final option. But can something as simple as intent be so powerful? Yes, I suppose it can. When people have such a finite number of words and letters available to them, intent seems to be the thing that distinguishes the purpose of those words and gives them their purpose. When a man pulls out a gun and yells "You no-good mother f#####r!" You can tell that he means you harm. But when a man throws his arms around another man and says the same thing, it's a sign of friendship.

So watch your intent everyone...especially if you have a potty mouth...

Final Score

During the Blogathon I held a trivia challenge, and the winner is...

PANDORA!!!

She scored a grand total of 3,603,200 points and will be getting her prizes shortly...

Looking Back

Well, I talked about my future, why not ahave a little reflection???

The best feeling I can ever remember having was about 11 years ago.

My mother was coming back from a trip with her sister and called to tell me to get some padding in a box. So I did...

She came in the door holding the most adorable little kitten I'd ever seen...a tortoise shell that I could hold in one hand. That's right, I actually have friends...

He asked, "Is this your time, or should you have been born in another age???"

And after some thought, I have decided that I'm exactly where I belong. Not in the location sense, but definately in time. True, most of the time I would rather be in the past where my love of swordsmanship isn't so obscure and where laws don't prevent carrying a foil...but if I were, then I wouldn't have the people in my life who have made a difference in the person I am now.

Let's give a round of applause to our family and our elusive friends!!!!!!

Blogathon 2006

That's right everyone, it's time for the big blogathon!!!

A whole bunch of people ranging from dry to interesting will be blogging for 24 hours straight to raise money for their charity!!!

But no, I don't participate here in that way. It was delightfully cold and each flake was like a tiny pillow. At first I was simply playing alone in my winter wonderland, but then came a voice…it was a voice that I recognized, and yet have never heard. It was the voice of my very own earthbound angel. The angel had come to play in the snow with me, she was wrapped in coats as thick as sofa cushions, with a big fuzzy hat that came down to her shoulders. I could tell that big fun was on the way…

My newly arrived friend and I spent hours playing in the snow…we made snowmen and forts, and threw snowballs, and built slides…but when we went to make snow angels, she mad them just by laying still. That was the only time her wings were apparent…they were invisible, but they could still make impressions in the snow.

And that is the dream that, in my mind, proves that I know an angel.

Unless muses have wings…

Bye Bye Superman

Well everyone, it's time for another update on my buddy Clark Kent...

As you all (anyone who's been reading for a while) know, Clark got married on Dec 31st...Yay, right?

Well since then, I and his father have only managed to speak to him once, and here is the email I just sent him.

Clark,

What has happened to my bestest buddy? You think you know someone, and WHAM...they shut you out.

It starts with them not calling you and being busy when you try to reach them. Next thing you know they won't answer the phone or return emails.

I understand that you're in love and happy to be working in a new job in a new city, and living in your big expensive apartment...but that doesn't mean you have to abandon everything you've known. I'm sorry, but I am seriously worried about you.

Are we too low class for you now? Do you just want to shun your old life? I don't even know if you are reading my emails...

Anyway, Lex will be staying with me at the BBQ next week because I hate guarding those things alone. Since when?

OK, where did people get the idea that they are supposed to have a "right to privacy?"

I keep hearing folks talking about their constitutional right to privacy...but I've got news people, THERE IS NO SUCH RIGHT!!!!!!

Have any of you actually read the constitution??? The closest thing in there to privacy is in the 4th Amendment which reads:

"The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized."

Did you see the word privacy in there? NO!!! That just protects you from being terrorized by the police...THAT'S ALL!!!!!!

The ONLY place where you can see a right to privacy is in court cases, and they don't really have say in who has what rights since that responsibility belongs to Congress.

But hey, if you can show me this mysterious right in writing I will give you a prize. :)

So bring on the slams, scams, and shams...

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://recklessrick.blogspot.com/2006/03/privacy-since-when.html' title='Privacy? Some people (a lot in fact) get left out and depressed. I know because I used to be one of them…but then I discovered that everyday is only what you believe it to be.

If you see Valentine’s day as a day of love and passion, that’s all it will be…but if you see it as another version of April Fools Day, it can be very entertaining!!! If you like that idea, here are just a few things you can try…

Send REALLY butch men valentine cards from fake men.
Lay dead flowers on peoples doorsteps.
Wear a black veil (ladies) and talk about death all day.

Another thing that can be fun is to create your own holidays…My personal favorite is “Computer Upgrade Day.” But if nothing brilliant comes to your mind, here are some existing things to celebrate…

This Month is:

Low Vision Awareness Month
African American History Month
American Hearth Month
American History Month
Canned Food Month
National Cat Health Month
National Cherry Month
National Children's Dental Health Month
National Embroidery Month
National Pet Oral Health Care Month
National Snack Food Month
National Weddings Month
National Wild Bird Feeding Month
Potato Lovers Month
Responsible Pet Owner Month
Prevent a Litter Month
Pet Dental Month
National Wild Bird-Feeding Month

This Week is:

National Crime Prevention Week
Cardiac Rehabilitation Week

February 14th is:

Trifon Zarezan (Wine-grower's Day) in Bulgaria

Names for the February Moons include:

Big Winter Moon
Horning Moon
Hunger Moon
Ice Moon
Red Cleansing Moon
Storm Moon
Sun Moon
Quickening Moon
Wild Moon.

But the main thing is to never let a commercial holiday get you down…remember what Nietzsche wrote:

“I searched for great human beings; I always found only the apes of their ideals.”

Happy Whatever...

In the spirit of the holidays that we are celebrating, I would like to comment…

So many people make a big deal out of this time of year, some even take the occasion all the way and celebrate with elaborate shindigs. All the while, nobody ever stops to think about the few who are left out and have no holiday to celebrate. Some of you may know what I’m talking about, while others may be saying what is this idiot speaking of?

I’m talking about February…AKA Black Heritage month. Don’t get me wrong, I think it’s a great thing and often help with the celebrations. My problem lies in the overlooked minorities…

The “white” people get pretty much every day of the year.

“Native Americans” get Thanksgiving…oh, wait that holiday celebrates killing them.

“African Americans” get all of February and a few other days.

Actual “Africans” get Kwanzaa.

“Mexican” people get Cinco de Mayo and Cesar Chavez day as well as a couple others.

“Chinese” folks get their own new year!!!

Religious people REALLY make out with all the holidays they get.

So where are the holidays for all the other groups that get left out? What about the Polish, Italian, Japanese, German, French, Greek, Arab, Persian, Vietnamese, Korean, Russian, Swedish, Armenian, Indian, and all the other neglected races? Do people actually think that giving a few ethnic groups their own holidays will put an end to hundreds of years of racism?

COME ON!!!!!

OK, since it’s never appropriate to point out problem unless you have a solution…here are the options I can see.:

Option 1…Give everyone a holiday.

Option 2…Give nobody a holiday.

Simple, eh?

AND WHAT ABOUT THE DAMN PENGUINS??? WHERE’S THEIR HOLIDAY???

Special Thanks

Is it possible to know the future? Yes, although most people are too wrapped in veils of modernity to even see the past. That’s right, your ol’ pal Ricky is at it again. I just came here to tell you people to get your heads out of the sand! Rise up and look at tomorrow!!!

What do you have to lose by looking into the future? I’m not asking you to develop ESP and actually view future events, I just want more people to give a flip about where they are going!!!

I’ve already given up on society as a whole, but there are a few people out there who still manage to make life worth living. And I’m not talking about love (although love is definitely worth living for), I’m talking about intelligent people who can still carry on a conversation. Not counting my somewhat elusive friend, the longest coherent two-sided conversation I had this weekend was with MYSELF!!!!!! AND IT ONLY LASTED 2 MINUTES!!!!!!!!!!!!

But I do want to thank the wondrous few who manage to keep thought alive…not just the braniacs, nerds, geeks (like me), and eggheads, but the everyday folks who don’t just accept what is.

Thanks to everyone who thinks for himself or herself!!! You are the reason that humanity will still be around in 10 years…

Gratiae pro reputo…

Insert Shaft Here

What kind of stupidity does it take for EVERYONE to ignore the obvious? I mean, honestly, how can I be the only person on a committee of 15 people who can do BASIC MATH???

Let’s start with a little BG here…The city has a crime rate that has been increasing every year until 2005. Four years ago, the “weed and seed” program was started in 1/5th of the city. For those of you who aren’t familiar with it, weed and seed is joint effort between law enforcement, community organizations, and churches that works to abolish crime in a specified area.

Today I was in a meeting where the head of weed and seed was bragging about his work and how it was benefiting the city. Here is his main bragging point, “Crime in our section of town is down 75%.” Well, naturally I posed the question, “Has anybody checked the crime rates in the rest of the city since the program began?” This is where the stupidity comes in…

In one-fifth of the city the crime rate has decreased 75%

In the ENTIRE city (including the one-fifth) the crime rate is down 1.5% That's ONE POINT FIVE PERCENT!!!!!!

Any mathematical geniuses out there who can put two-and-two together? That’s right, they are DISPLACING THE CRIME!!!!!!!! This is not a solution, this is like throwing your dog poop in the neighbor’s yard!!!!!!

HOW THE @#&$ CAN THEY NOT SEE THIS????

Do you want to know what the other people on the committee said when I brought this up? “Well, we will have to check the statistics on that before we can make an assumption like of that magnitude.”

Please, if my math is wrong, somebody tell me!!!!

PUGA CONSPIRARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A New Toast

Today I met a man who had gone from owning a recording studio to working at Wal-Mart. The first thing I thought was, “How pathetic can a guy be?” But then I went home and made it my topic of meditation, and this is what I got out of it.

Everyone has dreams…and although most people are afraid to realize those dreams, some have the guts to stare down the barrel of society’s 50 caliber machine-gun of criticism and risk those dreaded words, “I told you that you would fail.” These few people are more often met with negative energies from others than with inspiration and positive thinking. They are the ones who not only built this country, but made almost every discovery known to humanity.

And yes, more of these people fail than succeed…but that is not the fault of the dreamer, it is the fault of the smog-sucking masses that fought them every step of the way. Do you want to know the reason so many small businesses fail in their first year? Schadenfreuda!!! That’s right, the only thing people love more than their own success is the failure of others!!! Do you know what the 4th most uttered phrase in the English language is? “I told you so.”

So here’s to the dreamers who go out with a bang!!!

I may be one of you someday…but for now, everything is working out just as I had hoped.

4 From Me

It looks like I got tagged again, so here goes...

4 Jobs You Have Had in Your Life:
Night Stocker at K-Mart
Masseur
Shipping and Receiving in a Factory
Chief Videographer for a Local TV station

4 Movies You Would Watch Over and Over:
Pretty Woman
The Pirate Movie
An American President
The 10th Kingdom (actually a 10-hour miniseries, but I watch it at least once a month)

4 Places You Have Lived:
Pordenone, Italy
Woodford Halse, England
Bitburg, Germany
Edwards, California

4 TV Shows You Loved to Watch:
Stargate SG1 (Although it was better before they lost O’neill)
Stargate Atlantis
Smallville (Is there anybody on Earth cooler than Lex?)
Witchblade (reruns)

4 Places I Have Been on Vacation:
Tacoma, Washington
Berlin, Germany (Back when they had a wall)
Pisa, Italy
Orkney, Scotland

4 Websites You Visit Daily:
Neopets.com
Cruel.com
Swirve.com
Evanescing.org

4 of Your Favorite Food:
Pasta
Calamari
Chocolate
Meat in general

4 Places You Would Rather Be Right Now:
Scotland
Italy
Maryland
Anywhere else

4 Bloggers You are Tagging:
Bernie
LaTorre
Thomas
Leah

Last Year

The new year has left behind many things…many that are best forgotten, but a few that will always be with me in spirit. The biggest changes of the year were people leaving things behind.

My best friend left me behind and will always be with me in spirit, although I won’t see him for a couple years until his divorce. Aren’t I supportive?

A friend that I’ve been hanging out with since high school just moved to San Diego…from Arkansas. But at least he still answers my phone calls.

My grandmother has moved up here from New Orleans, so now I have no more excuses to go down there.

But I have made a few previously elusive discoveries that will impact my life for a VERY VERY long time. All I can say is “baby steps.” Sometimes discoveries must be made a little bit at a time…especially when you’re making discoveries about complex subjects.

Overall I had a good year…even with all the disasters. Thanks to my inspirer, I have almost no time to sulk about things that have been lost. Now, on to the new year!!!
Thank you angel of inspiration…

What I Got for XXX-Mas

Here's what my presents this year included:

New Computer w/ 21" Monitor
New VCR
22 Pez Dispensers
Legos
Mega Blocks Dragon
Clothes
Cell Phone Stuff
Candy

And a spare life!!!

Ooooh...a survey... He mixed store-bought Holy Water with Vodka and drank it. I must say that, in most cases, vodka and water doesn’t seem like too bad of a combo…but today it was!!!

Only minutes after drinking the stuff, he broke out in a sweat. Then shortly after that he began vomiting and his chest tightened up. Things got worse from there, but I won’t share those details so that you can keep your dinner down. :)

Anyway, the big question is whether it was a god, a disease, or something else…he’s at the hospital so I’ll let you know what they say later…

Ciao everyone!!!

Shhhhhhhhh...

Well, it looks like I’ve been tagged this time…

Hi my name is Reckless Rick and I’m a…………Ooops…wrong confession.

I Confess – I steal creative camera shots that I’m known for from TV and movies. Yes, anyone can do it…but clients don’t know that.

I Confess – I’ve never REALLY cared for anyone I’ve dated (liking doesn’t count)…and I’ve never dated anyone that I REALLY cared for. Does that make me a bad person? Bah, whatever…I care for someone now, so maybe I can change that one.

I Confess – The reason I left the army was because the MRE’s were no good anymore. I grew up on the kind of MRE’s that had all kinds of stuff in them and you never knew what you’d get with your entrée. There were freeze-dried fruits, candy, cakes, cookies, veggies, and once I even had freeze-dried ice-cream in one!!! Now you’re lucky to get a dessert if you have a side dish. But it REALLY tweaked my follicles when they started serving boxed luches instead of MRE’s!!!!!! BLEGH!!!!!!

I Confess – I’m still keeping a secret from 7th grade!!!

I Confess – I would rather sit at home and play with Legos than go to Disneyland. I mean, honestly, who needs lines, screaming kids, and crying moms to have fun? Although, if you take the other people away it is a lot of fun!!!

Alright Bernie, it’s your turn!!!

A Cyclone of Excitement

There it was…THURSDAY!!!! The day for which the cumulative organizations of the city had been preparing for months (but I only heard about a week ago). It was called “An Old Towne Christmas”…interestingly enough my organization is the only one with “Old Towne” in the name. I like to think that it’s because we were the most important part…

So I opened the place up (yes, we keep it locked), turned up the heat (16 degrees in a theatre isn’t good), turned on the water (because people like to potty), put out the tables (folks can’t hand out on a sidewalk without a place to sit…that’s just beastly), and turned on the lights (let’s face it, nobody wants to stumble around in a dark 80-year-old theatre).

At 5:59pm (one minute to show time) the first act comes walking in the front door. I immediately strip them (of their coats) and ran out on stage for their introduction…one minute late isn’t too bad for a gospel group, right? They managed to stay on time and the next group went on 2 minutes early. Let’s just say I was thrilled at this point. But then DISASTER STRIKES…the second group only used a third of their time!!! But then I am reminded that the dancers from the parking lot were forced inside by the cold and had no place to perform…YES!!!! So I give them a chance to fill the gap with a dance.

The dance starts out beautifully…they plug in the boom-box and dance away. But about 1/3 of the way through the song it freezes!!! So they start over and it freezes again!!! OH NO!!!!!!!! But wait…what’s that sound? The ENTIRE audience has begun singing where the stereo left off!!! WOW!!!!!!!!!!! The dancers finished their routine using the audience…

The next two acts went on as scheduled with no incidents…then it was all over…

After packing up and winterizing the theatre, I locked up the theatre and headed to my car. As I got closer, I noticed a man walking towards me in the dark…but being the idiot I am, I kept going. He gets to me and of all the things he could say, he goes, “Hey man, can I get some pot?” The conversation that followed must have made me sound like a total wanker because the guy walked away rolling his eyes at me. I’m pretty sure he was a cop (We have a SERIOUS drug problem around here and they’ve been cracking down hard).

Anyway, it all turned out well…

Dum spiro, spero

Thanksgiving...oh really???

Before I start, I just wanted to mention that I love Thanksgiving...not becuase of what it represents, but becuase it's a chance to spend time with the family.

Now that I've gotten the mushy part out of the way, let me tell you what this holiday is all about. You people are celebrating genocide...

What are we thankful for? We are thankful that the settlers in America had better weapons than the natives!!! We are thankful that European diseases hadn't beaten them here and given the locals an immunity already!!! We are thankful that overall the settlers were much more aggressive than the natives!!!

If you want to know why America has so much crime, take a look at the first thing the Europeans did here...this country was founded by murderers, arsonists, thieves, and vandals (more commonly called Pilgrims). Yeah, there were "Indians" at the first Thanksgiving feast...their rotting corpses were right downwind!!!

How come whenever a country sends people to settle another piece of land it's usually called "invading" ecxept for a few hundred years ago when the "settlers" came to America???

I guess it's true, the winners write the history...and the losers get put on to reservations in the desert.

I love Thanksgiving...

Burried Treasures Rock

Have you ever pulled out a piece of furniture and found something that you had completely forgotten about???

Today I moved my entertainment system to rearrange cables, and found something that I used to listen to after every breakup to help me seem like I gave a damn...My Pretty Woman soundtrack!!! And what happens when multiple routes converge on a single point in space and time? Don't these people not realize that I am sick and tired of dating the same flakey, shallow, slutty, and greedy girls? I tell you, this is getting annoying...I just started telling them that I married a brick wall...

I can't help that I came to my senses years ago...I know what I want, and if I never find it then I'll just never get married. I am fine with that, so why aren't they? But I do have a feeling that there's something coming anyway...we'll see...

Dum Spiro, Spero...

Happy Endings

In fairy tales they always get to live Happy Ever After...but what about real-life?

What if I told you that real life has more Happy Endings than fairy tales do? What if I told you that once the story ends, Prince Charming becomes and abusive drunk? Well, you might smack me...but afterward you may begin to wonder if there is such a thing as Happy Ever After...

I mean, let's look at those 3 simple words:

Happy - That would imply that the fairy tale family were joyous and smiling.

Ever - Does that not refer to eternity or FORever?

After - This would set a time marker.

So in essence this phrase states that they would be happy for all of eternity from the time the phrase is uttered. But some would argue that death is a VERY unhappy time...especially for the ones being left alive. There are funerals, expenses, bequeathed debts, estate fights...or even just the pain of loss. That must be pretty tough to just grin and bear...

And when combined with "and they lived" that would seem to imply that they were not only happy forever, but also that they could not ever die...

On the other hand, in real life, people can and do live together in perfect harmony for the rest of their lives once they find that special someone. Sure they have differences of opinion, but they can always make it through if their love is strong enough. At least that's the case with my parents...35 years now.

So what is the point of all this rambling you ask...

Don't bother getting married if you don't love the person enough to get through arguments...unless you're doing it for money, then you're still getting your happy ending. But if you do find a true and perfect love, hold on to it with all of your heart...because it's a very rare and precious thing in these times of pain and terror.

Free Kittens

Before you say anything, no, I'm not giving away baby cats...

**********FLASHBACK**********

So there I was sitting in the Community Theatre watching some construction workers screwing accoustic tiles back onto the frame overhead. Of course, that's not the reason I was there...I was actually waiting to speak to someone who never arrived. But there I was observing the truest form of incompetence achievable by human standards, when one of the inbeciles decided to rock the two-story scaffolding beneath him and proceeded to smash his leg upon the stage. Horray for gravity...

As we were then waiting for the arrival of an ambulance to remove this moronic professional from my sight, I heard a faint meowing coming from beneath the stage...oh boy, I got to belly-crawl under the full length of the theatre to find a litter of kittens. The little putty-tats were very friendly and happily followed me to the exit...

When the ambulance finally arrived (after almost 35 minutes), the driver asked if he could come by after he got off to take the kittens home. Now I’m not admitting anything about myself as I make these statements, I’m just putting words for your interpretation.

Who is to determine what “crime” is? In ancient times a crime was a violation of the laws or rules laid out by the governing party…and so it would seem that is the case today. However, one must consider the source of these laws and rules… The Hammurabi Code (Amorite Dynasty of Old Babylon) was dictated by a king, and, if carefully examined, is the basis for most legal systems. Even the Catholic Cannons have roots in the Hammurabi Code, but then with 282 laws it’s hard to not find roots there. And why, may I ask, is a king from over 3800 years ago still telling us what to do?

Here’s what is really going on; Like cinema of today, governing bodies are simply dead creatively. It is the responsibility of leadership to create RELEVANT and NECESSARY laws that help to serve the people…not to repeat antiquated and meaningless dribble from thousands of years ago!!! Who’s to say that this Hammurabi guy was even sound enough of mind to say what is right or wrong?

Aren’t morality and ethics subject to personal opinion? I mean, if you have a way to succeed in life, should some crap like not being allowed to lie stop you? Obviously these laws and rules don’t do anything (just look at the number of people who get convicted and released), so why not just allow people to make their own rules?

Here’s an example of how stupid the government of the US is (that’s right, I said STUPID). These dip wads say that too many Americans are dangerously obese…and then they come up with new ways to help promote weight loss, right? NO!!!!!! Instead, they give the FDA MORE POWER to ban whatever they want!!! And as soon as the FDA gets that power, what do they do? THEY BAN WEIGHT LOSS PILLS!!!!!!!!!!! What the hell????

Anyway, I think you get the point…before you condemn someone for being a "criminal" ask yourself if they have ACTUALLY done anything wrong, or did they just break a rule made up for the government's piece of mind? Don’t just take laws and rules at face value, see if they actually have a purpose. And if they don’t, join me in starting a NEW civilization that MAKES SENSE!!!!!!!

Ciao everybody!!!

Where and What are Ghosts?

This is a continuation of a comment I made on my friends blog...

As stated, there is enough proof from experimentation to support that ghosts are real. Here are the things that have been stated as fact:

* The human soul weighs 21 grams
* Etheric energy (energy that flows in a magnetic field) ceases to flow, and is dispersed upon death
* There is a mass of energy wrapped around the base of the spine (Kundalini)
* People have remembered past lives when hypnotized
* It is possible to drain someone of their energy through physical contact
* Energy cannot be destroyed

Now, assuming that all of these statements are true, what conclusions can we draw about ghosts?

REALLY Simple Wine

Ok, this one's for Vinny...and anybody else who wants to know a simple way to make wine...

Ingredients:

- 1 can of concentrated 100% fruit juice
(Whatever flavor you want your wine to be)
- 4-8 cups of sugar (depending on desired sweetness)
- 2/3 packet of yeast
- Gallon Milk Jug (empty and rinsed)
- Water (from tap is fine, the alcohol will kill bacteria)

Recipe:

1. You have 5 choices: The original Star Trek, The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, Voyager, and Enterprise. Got one? Good...let's move on...

Here's what you've learned based on each...

If you picked The Original Star Trek, then you are an open, adventurous, person who would willingly be the first to rush into almost any situation. You have heroic tendencies and possibly prefer cliff diving to rollercoasters. You like to think of yourself as easy-going and fun.

If you picked The Next Generation, then you are more than likely a somewhat structured person with a cautious streak. You like to do and try new things, but you want to make sure it's safe first (probably through research). You choose friends with similar likes and dislikes who you feel are not too far out of your comfort zone. And of course, you more than likely have an above average reading level.

If you happened to select Deep Space Nine, then you are in the smallest group because, although you thrive on adventure, you will rarely seek out new things to do or try. You don't really enjoy what you do (work, school, etc) but you are afraid to attempt a change. You frequently go window shopping, but almost always turn away from buying what you want.

Or did you pick Voyager? You did? Well that means there's something wrong with your happiness. You are either insecure with your place in the universe or are just not happy with your current situation. You are a dreamer, one who seeks to change their life. You are skeptical of people who offer to help you because in your mind they only want to hurt you. You often feel consumed.

But maybe you chose Enterprise...this would signify that you are adventurous, and easily angered. You are capable of horrific acts when you are wronged and the people who know you tread lightly in your presence. But when you are happy, you are also capable of wonderously positive acts. You could just as easily run into a burning building to save a stranger as set your bosses house on fire and watch him burn through a window. You are both fun AND intimidating.

Let me know what you think...

High I.Q. does NOT equal Smart

Alas...It looks like my best friend is being pulled away from everything he used to care about, and unfortunately that includes me.

I've mentioned him before, he's the guy who's marrying the chick who ruined his credit and such. I've spent hours and hours talking to him, just trying to convince him to just save something (because her past shows that she's going to break his heart and leave him with nothing) for his future. But now he's turned his back on his parents, his sister, his job, his home, and I'm starting to lose him too...

He's moving to a town that is a 6-hour drive from here, quitting his job 1 year from retirement, and selling his house...just so his new wife can be closer to her mother. Unfortunately, I don't think that is where we're headed...

The threat to America doen't come from the government, but rather from the people who are complaining about it. "But complaining doesn't do anything," you say...you may be right, but what is ALWAYS the eventual step to follow complaints? Action. These people who are complaining about gun rights, invasion of privacy, reduction of liberties, smoking bans, and other things are going to take actions that will cause so much internal fighting (yes, with guns) that outside threats, who previously thought America to be strong and united, will use the opportunity to do their damage and cripple this country!!!!

*...So now on to my point for the day... *

I gave my vision so that I could ask this question: If such a disaster is actually coming to the USA, then would it not make sense to try to do something about it before it happens? Or perhaps we should all just get a gun so that we will be able to lock ourselves in our homes while everything caves in around us? Or better yet, let's all go repopulate Mexico and Canada!!!!!

Are we there yet?

In 1885 Nietzche was writing a book titled Thus Spoke Zarathustra, and in this book a soothsayer makes a prediction. Keep in mind that this was written 120 years ago...

"--And I saw a great sadness descend upon mankind. The best grew weary of their works. A doctrine appeared, accompanied by a faith: 'All is empty, all is the same, all has been!' And from all the hills it echoed:'All is empty, all is the same, all has been!' Indeed we have harvested: but why did all our fruit turn rotten and brown? What fell down from the evil moon last night? In vain was all our work; our wine has turned to poison; an evil eye has seared our fields and hearts. We have all become dry; and if fire should descend on us, we should turn to ashes; indeed, we have wearied the fire itself. All our wells have dried up; even the sea has withdrawn. All the soil would crack, but the depth refuses to devour. 'Alas, where is there still a sea in which one might drown?' thus are we wailing across shallow swamps. Verily, we have become too weary even to die. We are still waking and living on--in tombs."

My question:

If this is so old, how can it be so accurate today???

The candle's flame

I hate smoking, and I also hate being in the presence of a smoker (even when they aren't smoking, they still stink). So as you can picture my state when I found out that the smoking ban on the public places of the city had passed. Of course the smokers fought it with a petition, but since they were 150 votes shy, it failed...and once again I was thrilled.

Unfortunately, the smokers of this crap box of a city don't pay the ban any attention whatsoever...they know that they are forbidden from lighting up in public buildings, and yet I am still forced to hold my breath in hallways and breath through a cloth in waiting rooms. So once I became so upset I formulated a plan...

I say to hell with these inconsiderate jerks...if they insist on smoking around me in places where it is banned, then I can be free to do equally (and far more legal) offensive things around them. So I bought the most horrible bathroon sanitizing spray I could find (it smells like a skunk farted into a tub of rotten lemons) and now I spray it towards smokers when they puff at me!!!

HA HA HA...Gotcha bastards!!!!!!

Funeral Pre-Mortus

My friend is getting married...so now his life will be ruined...

I realize that what I just said probably sounds harsh (or even mean), but the fact is that My friend (we'll call him Clark Kent) is in love with what can only be described as a hell-spawned demon (we'll call her Lois Lane).

Let me explain, since I will probably be getting a few flames if I don't. Clark is one of the sweetest, kindest men on the planet..."Who isn't?" you say...I've NEVER met anyone as kind and caring as Clark, which is why he's my best friend.

A few years ago Clark fell in love with a friend (Lois) who had just gotten a divorce from her second husband (with whom she had 4 daughters). He helped get through the divorce, comforted her in her days of sorrow, and held her when she was declared an unfit mother. But as soon as she recovered from this soul-crushing blow, she ran out on Clark and found husband number 3. Though the third marriage was short-lived (only a couple of years), Lois and Mr. 3 managed to completely destroy Clark's credit through co-sighnings, repossesions, and theft. And sure enough, when it was over between Lois and Mr. 3, lois ran back to Clark crying.

But this time when Lois and Clark got back together it wasn't just for comforting. Clark gave Lois a Saturn, his heart, and anything else she asked for. But there turned out to be a catch...Now Clark was faced with the fact that Lois had to have major surgery in order to live (a surgery that she had known about for 15 years). So Clark proposed marriage and she "reluctantly" agreed on the condition that they wait a few years first (this was in June). The surgery was over less than a week ago, and now they are getting married on December 31st. But wait!!! There's more...

Before they get married later this year, Lois has told Clark that they will BOTH sell their homes and quit their jobs (Clark is only a year from retirement) so that they can move 300 miles and she can be closer to her mom. Isn't that sweet?

So to recap: Clark is marrying a serial bride who already killed his credit, robbed him blind, broke his heart, and is now taking his retirement and his home away. They are moving away from Clark's family and friends to be closer to hers. Oh, and Lois managed to drive a HUGE wedge between Clark and his father.

So now if Lois and Clark get a divorce, Clark will have NOTHING!!!! No job, no house, no money, N-O-T-H-I-N-G...

And THAT is why my best friend is doomed...Any questions?

A new super hero

Wouldn't it be great if there were USABLE super heroes? I mean, yes, it would be nice to have the known ones running around being goodie-goodies, but they would still only be doing what they do in comic books. And last time I checked, the US government was doing a fine job on the whole overkill hunting thing.

What I'm talking about is a super hero that will ACTUALLY make a difference for everyone...Like someone who can de-corrupt politicians, build a true democracy where PEOPLE have the power, or maybe even just find a decent candidate for the white house. That's it!!!! We need a new type of politician...one who will be honest, effective, and fair...one who will keep their personal affairs out of their work...one who will stand up to big business and congress in order to do what is RIGHT...

Who am I kidding? America is only going to get worse as long as the current system is in place. We don't have a democracy, we have an elite selection of poker buddies who do what is in THEIR best interests...and to hell with the rest of the country's needs.

SO I suppose our new super hero has to be a whole new government...one truely OF, BY, and FOR the people!!! I live in a moderately small city (65,000 peeps) in the deep south (US). And this town happens to have sidewalks on most streets (as do many towns of this size). So how come the majority of the pedestrian population doesn't know where to find these cement walkways? I was recently granted an answer to this boggle.

I managed to avoid hitting a group of EIGHT teenage boys in the street with my car today as I came around a bend in the road where they were walking in a spread formation down the street. But rather than blow my horn or swear at them, I chose to approach them as a reporter for the local paper (I'm not anymore, but I still have my credentials) with a survey.

My question to them was, "Why do you feel that the streets of ____________ are a safe place to walk?"

This was the response (word for word) that I was given:

"It aint 'bout being safe, it's 'bout the white man tryin' to control da black man by makin' dem walk on sidewalks while the damn crackers is out drivin' Ferraris and S*#^. So it's like the responsibilty of black folks to show them racist crackers that we aint goin' to be controled no more."

Now how much sense does that make??? Leave it to the people of this town to make using sidewalks a racial issue!!!

Orbiting the Abyss

A friend made a remark last night, "You never write about who you really are" He said. So I felt that it was time for the reveal as it were.

In order to really know me, you must first understand WHAT I am and where I come from. For years, I was a traveler...I never stayed in a country for more than a year consecutively, until I moved here. I have now lived here for 10 years, and have only been out of the state 8 times. So I find that, because my work keeps me here most of the time, my universe has been growing smaller.

Now all I can do to keep the walls of eternity at bay is to write about what lies beyond them. One of those things is now the interest of my life, someone who can read these words, and has never been closer to my soul. She writes like she knows everything that lies in my heart, and yet she only knows me through this medium.

I write not only to save myself however, I also write so that she may come to know me in a deeper sense than that which she has already been exposed to through chat. This woman who teaches to so many, and shares her words with the universe...she has become a driving force in my life.

So now my soul has formed a balance between my working life, and my drive to talk to her...

And that is who I am...At least most of the time...Ciao.

Incidental Dreaming

Have you ever had a dream that preceded reality and contained almost entirely accurate details? I had one last night, and although it was nothing more than a dream about waking up, it was still something worth contemplating. Was it simply that my mornings had become so predictable that it was that easy to know what awaited me? Or was it that time had already passed (once again, assuming that time exists)? I think instead that it was that it never happened at all...not in my dream or in reality.

After all, isn't reality just another word for common perception? Isn't everything, no matter how obvious, still under observation? Or have we become so complacent in our lives to the point where matter and light are taken for universal truths?

I pose that if nobody ever tries to split a galaxy with their dreams, then the galaxy will never be split. If nobody eats the yellow snow, then why is it gone in the morning?

Beat that with your cyberhammer!

Misplacing Eternity

...And so I ask, has anyone ever seen eterninty? What makes people so certain that it exists? Is there actually time outside of our own concepts? Perhaps it is only us that experience time. When you think about it, does it really make sense that time can go on forever? What happens when there is no life to document it?

Wouldn't it be equally as likely that time doesn't exist at all, and that what we know as existence is merely a fluke? And if that were the case, would it not seem that when the error is discovered we may be stripped of our brief existence completely?

But then who's to say that we even exist now? There is the possibility that we are fictional characters in a short story...

Hmmm...........

A flame of doubt

Today I was approached by a young man who claimed to be working for my competition. He told me of a plot to steal an influential client, and although my response was almost instant, what I said was burned into my thoughts for the rest of the day. Unwittingly, I gave myself a new outlook on my business.

I told that young man that If my clients are seduced by his boss, then I haven't done my job very well. Later on, I began to think about that quick response...then I realized that it rings true in most aspects of life. If someone (anyone) is willing to leave you in business, love, friendship, or whatever, then there must have been a problem there to start with.

So with that thought, it only makes sense to evaluate all of your relationships and determine if ANYTHING external could pull them away. If you believe that there is a possibility, then you still have time to make corrections.

My mentor once told me, "Every life has a bond to every other, these bonds are unbreakable from the outside without internal degredation."

And so it begins...

Often I find myself changing focus during my meditations, but lately it happens almost instantly. Someone with whom I've shared less than a single brief glance has captured a small piece of my soul. And although it's small, it's still a very important piece.

She has stolen my very core, and although I may never see her again, she will hold it for as long as I have the words that she writes. Yes, she's a writer, but not just any...she holds the power to bend the very universe with her pen. Every word that escapes her mind onto the page is like a chisle that is quietly sculpting my world around me.

I'm not certain as to whether it is her existence or her words that have bound my thoughts to her, but I do know that nobody has ever moved me in such a way as she.

And can a lesson be learned from this? Yes, there's always something somewhere that can get you when you least expect it.

"If we have our own why of life, then we can get by with almost any how."

Cascading Dreams

In the wake of yesterday's tragedy I find many people comparing it to 9/11. But the question I pose is, If the IRA have been bombing the UK for years, then why does one terrorist attack warrant so much attention?

I think it's being made into such a big stink because of WHO did it rather than WHAT was done. If it had been some Irish freedom fighter, we in America never would have heard about it, but since it was supposedly people from the middle east it's plastered on every major network.

Yes, it was horrible. Yes, people died. Yes, my prayers are with them. But don't act like it hasn't already been happening over there! In reality everyone is always aware of your presence, they just don't actually care what outcome may befall you. In the words of Quinn C, "Just because you're standing on me it doesn't mean you feel me." There are so many ways to communicate, all it takes is to reach out and smack them in the head with some form of words.

I'll never forget my first crush...I met her in 5th grade, and she drew me like a like a bug to a windscreen (with much the same outcome). But all it took was a song to win her heart...after her boyfriend pulverized me into a sticky mush. That's how I know that words (and sometimes music) have the power to expel demons and spark the flames of life.

That's a wrap for this evening...mine is but to serve.

This New World

Ever since I got off the boat of indifference, it has occured to me that this world has far more to offer than daydreams and minimum wage. Now each breath I take is filled with a whole new life, a presence of clarity that I've never known. Many who read this will already have experienced that feeling, and from many different causes. But for me it's all because I've realized that beauty can be found in everything...even a rotten and condemned building can hold the most astounding secrets withing its walls.

And just as surely as that beauty can be found in all things, so can evil. That is my clarity...that is my truth. For now I have seen with all of my eyes, and now I have felt a cause. Some may call it religion, others may call it insanity, while others still may know it simply as life...to me it is just a feeling.

And so the rambling ceases for the night...Abruptly, like life.
